Course architect and golfing great Tom Weiskopf was on hand to inaugurate his new design at Snake River Sporting Club near Jackson, this past July, calling the 18-hole, par 72 layout, "one of the best courses I've ever designed." Set in the midst of a 554-acre private residential development that pushes up the Snake River Canyon and abuts Bridger-Teton National Forest (3.4 million acres of preserved public land), the golf course is the first of many recreational amenities to open at SRSC. A members lodge, spa, sports barn and equestrian facility are all slated for a 2007 opening. And of course the Snake River flows adjacent to the property, where fly-fishermen, rafters and fun seekers will find thrills and gills. With several design masterpieces in the region--including Yellowstone Club and Spanish Peeks--Weiskopf has again proven that he is today's preeminent architect of mountain courses, and Snake River certainly ranks among his finest.
